Something related arrived, but not the thing promised — a narrower analysis, a verbal update, or the same subject through a different vehicle.
Past due
The deadline passed and no delivery has been recorded. This is not a finding that the work was never done — only that nothing in the record shows it.
No deadline
A commitment was made with no date attached, so nothing can ever be late.
